Gaultier set to pull the strings of Diet Coke’s new look

Fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier has been named as Diet Coke’s new creative director and will be teaming up with the soft drink company throughout 2012. Gaultier will be following in a tradition of designer who has designed limited edition bottles for Diet Coke, including Matthew Williamson and Gianfranco Ferrè.

To celebrate Gaultier’s appointment Coke has released a series of ads which see the legendary designer starring alongside the iconic Diet Coke puppets which have featured in the drink’s ad campaigns since 2008. The adverts see the designer being given inspiration to give makeovers to two of the string puppets after drinking the soft drink.

As creative designer Jean Paul Gaultier will design new Diet Coke bottles, including one that is shaped like a woman, as well as work on retail and advertising for the drink throughout 2012. Gaultier’s woman bottle will be available at Harvey Nichols for just four weeks from next month.
